Divorce rate increases in Marine Corps, Army

I was reading Yahoo News today and the title of the article “Divorce rate increases in Marine Corps, Army” caught my attention.
WASHINGTON – The divorce rate among soldiers and Marines increased last year as military marriages suffered continuing stress from America’s two ongoing wars. There were an estimated 10,200 failed marriages in the active duty Army and 3,077 among Marines, according to figures obtained by The Associated Press for the budget year ended Sept. 30.
This is a sad news. It’s harder to maintain a long distance relationship but regardless of the distance, if two people are committed to making it work out, it will work out. I grew up with my dad in the military and I can say that it takes a strong woman to be with a military man. That’s why I admire my mom a lot. Of course, I also have to give credit to my dad for doing his part well as a husband and father. When my dad is on vacation and he’s able to visit us, he enjoys doing a lot of stuff at home with the help of industrial clamps. Some things are taken for granted at home when he’s not around especially when my brothers were still too young to fix the things that are broken.
