Trophy Wife

When we see an older, accomplished, rich man with a young beautiful wife, we often refer to the wife as a trophy wife. Someone that the man can show off to the public. Julie Connelly, a senior editor of Fortune magazine coined the term trophy wife. It was used in a context that a trophy wife is also smart and almost always highly accomplished in her own right. However, the term was now reduced to a mere beautiful woman who is mostly judged as unintelligent.

The question is why do some want trophy wives?  I think it has something to do with lust. It also inflates the man’s ego because he can show to his friends that he can still get a much younger woman.  Most woman who are into this kind of  relationship are doing it for financial security. Who am I to judge? As long as both parties get what they want, then that is their business. Can’t these men just get softball trophies instead?
