Kate Winslet wins Oscar Best Actress for “The Reader”

Kate Winslet recently wins her first Academy Awards for Best Actress for her role in “The Reader”. 

In her speech, she said, “I’d be lying if I haven’t made a version of this speech before. I think I was probably 8 years old and staring into the bathroom mirror and this (Oscar) would be a shampoo bottle. But it’s not a shampoo bottle now.

Other actresses nominated in the said category include Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway, and Melissa Leo.

It was Winslet’s first win after five previous losses.
