Paris Hilton and Benji Madden split

Some good things never lasts. Paris Hilton and Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, have broken up. The couple have dated for 9 months before calling it quits. According to Paris Hilton’s publicist, the two “remain very good friends.” Well, that’s what they always say. 
Can former lovers turn into “just friends”?
