title pic All About Shoes!

Posted by pink on July 21, 2008

They say diamonds are girls’ bestfriends but I say for the average girls it must be bags and shoes. Not many could afford to go diamond shopping every month but girls can surely afford to give in to their shoe addiction every now and then. You can’t blame us girls if we have a big love for shoes. Since we were little misses, we were told of Cindrella’s glass slipper and how the prince knew she was the “one” because it fits her. (Some fast facts here, it is actually made of fur not of glass -something went wrong with the translation). Hence, that shoe mania was introduced early on in our lives. Blame it on that fairy tale!

According to the National Purchase Diary, a retail and consumer information company, American women spent nearly $17 billion on fashion footwear between October 2004 and October 2005. I am not sure if women had toned down on their shoe purchases ever since. What do you think?

manolo-blahnik, most expensive shoes

Listed in 2005 as the most expensive shoes, this Manolo Blahnik alligator boots costs $14,000.That’s so imeldific! By the way, that word was coined after the Former First Lady of the Philippines, Imelda Marcos who is recorded in the Guinness Book for having the largest shoe collection! She was said to have more than 3,000 pairs. I wish I could fit into her shoes, but her size is eight-and-a-half, too large for me!

The now 78-year old lady was quoted as saying “They went into my closets looking for skeletons, but thank God, all they found were shoes, beautiful shoes.”  Well, I cannot help but find that remark funny.

Here’s another shoe trivia. The largest sgoes which is 5.29 meters long, 2.37 meters wide and 1.83 meters high is found in Marikina, the shoe capital of the Philippines. It could hold 30 pairs of normal feet.
